World Para Powerlifting (WPPO) has officially published its new Rules and Regulations following approval by the World Para Sports Unit Board.
Prior to the publication, WPPO conducted an extensive membership consultation with its stakeholders. Over the course of two years and three months (2023-2025), 79 of the 98 National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) contributed to the process, representing 80.61 per cent of all NPCs in the sport.
Commenting on the new rules and regulations, Head of World Para Powerlifting Jorge Moreno said:
"We received invaluable feedback throughout the past two years, and I want to extend my gratitude to our membership for their engagement and support. The new Rules and Regulations mark a significant milestone for our sport as we begin the next World Para Powerlifting competition cycle in the lead-up to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games."
The updated Rules and Regulations apply to all WPPO-recognised competitions and will take effect on 1 May 2025.
