“We wanted to bring people and athletes up to date with Paralympic sport and generate interest in the Games over the coming months.”

The Australian athletics trio of Scott Reardon, Evan O’Hanlon and Chad Perris have launched a Paralympic sports podcast to talk all-things regarding the Paralympic Movement.

The podcast entitled “The Home Straight” will run weekly until the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games in September, and can be listened to on Sound Cloud: https://soundcloud.com/user-78297045.

Reardon said the aims of the podcast are to get people excited ahead of Rio 2016 and educate the audience about Paralympic sport.

“We wanted to bring people and athletes up to date with Paralympic sport and generate interest in the Games over the coming months,” Reardon said.

The first episode ran last Monday (30 May) on the 100-days-to-go mark until the Paralympics. The show featured five-time Paralympic champion O’Hanlon and London 2012 silver medallist Reardon, and World Championship medallist Chad Perris.

“We will be talking about anything that pops up during the weeks,” Reardon said. “We want this to be really interactive, we want listeners to ask questions and give us something to talk about. #thehomestraight will be the hashtag, we will talk about classifications across different sports and how they work, and we will have an ‘athletes of the week.’”
