British wheelchair rugby team named for 2017 Euros

Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby has announced its 15-player roster for the International Wheelchair Rugby Federation (IWRF) 2017 European Championships.

Seven return from the team that won gold at the 2015 Championships in Pajulahti, Finland, and in total eight coming off the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

James Roberts will lead the way for the British team, having helped them take a nail-biting 49-48 victory over Sweden two years ago.

Re-joining him from that 2015 edition are Chris Ryan, Gavin Walker, Ayaz Bhuta, Jamie Stead, Jonathan Coggan and Coral Batey (reserve). Ryan Cowling was not on the 2015 roster but carries over experience from last year’s Paralympic Games.
