Brno, Czechia will host the Para Trap World Championships in September this year, marking the seventh edition of the prestigious event and the first major World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) championships to take place in the central European nation.
The Olympic Shotgun Skeet and Trap Brno Shooting Range, a familiar venue on the World Shooting Para Sport Grand Prix circuit since 2020, will serve as the stage for the event. The championships will kick off on 12 September with pre-event training, followed by two days of intense competition (13–14 September) across three mixed sport classes: PT1 – Mixed Trap Seated, PT2 – Mixed Trap Standing SG-L and PT3 – Mixed Trap Standing SG-U.
The shooting range will also host the sixth edition of the International Sellier & Bellot Para Trap Championship & WSPS Grand Prix in August.
Tyler Andersson, World Shooting Para Sport Senior Manager, said: “The Czech Disabled Shooting Association has been very committed to Para trap, and we are excited to work with them to deliver a fantastic Para Trap World Championships this year. This is another major milestone in the development of the discipline, which has seen tremendous growth since joining WSPS in 2018. We have a very experienced Local Organising Committee (LOC) that has successfully hosted WSPS Grand Prix events in the past, and we can’t wait to see the world’s best shotgun athletes in action again.”
The previous edition of the Para Trap Worlds took place in Granada, Spain, in 2024, with 50 athletes from 16 nations competing. Italy led the medal standings with two golds and four medals overall, followed by Spain and Slovakia. Czechia celebrated its first podium finish as Jaroslav Klimes secured a bronze medal in PT1.
