“This is a coming together of eight years of hard graft.”

After winning the Paralympic title in the mixed team recurve open event, China claimed its second archery gold in the compound open mixed team event.

China’s number two seeds Zhou Jiamin and Ai Xinlian finished second in the ranking round to qualify for the elimination stages.

They later defeated Canada, Turkey and Great Britain to claim the Paralympic gold. “The last match was very close, but we were very confident that we could achieve the best result,” said Jiamin.

Great Britain’s John Stubbs returned to the Paralympic podium after sealing gold at Beijing 2008.

“This probably means as much as winning in Beijing did to be honest,” said Stubbs. “This is a coming together of eight years of hard graft.”

South Korea defeated Turkey 138-128 in the bronze-medal game and completed the podium.
