The countdown is on for people wanting to volunteer at the World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships, with the application deadline set for Thursday 12 April.

Paralympics Ireland is seeking 500 volunteers to help in the biggest Para sport event ever to take place in the country. Around 500 swimmers from 40 countries are expected to participate at Dublin 2018, which takes place from 13-19 August.

There are nine volunteer areas that individuals can register to work within, regardless of levels of experience and expertise.

These areas are: Accreditation Team, Anti-Doping Team, Event Operations Team, Media Services Team, Medical Services Team, Athlete Services Team, Sport/Competition Team, Transport Services Team and Venue Operations Team.

The volunteer recruitment form can be found on the Paralympics.ie website.

The 2018 World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships will be held in the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin.

This will be the fifth edition of the European Championships which took place for the first time in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 2009. Berlin, Germany hosted the competition in 2011, followed by Eindhoven, the Netherlands in 2014 and Funchal, Portugal in 2016.

More information about the competition can be found on the Dublin 2018 website.
