“The fact that the total of five men and 12 women are able to meet the heavy demand of international competition is a pleasant discovery and gives a lot of confidence for the season."

A 17-strong team of swimmers will represent the Netherlands at the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships in Glasgow, Great Britain, in July, including five athletes who will make their debut for their national team.

The team was named by coach Mark Faber after the Swim Cup Eindhoven, which acted as the national selection event, took place in April.

Faber is looking forward to Glasgow 2015 from 13-19 July with confidence, with the team featuring world and Paralympic champions Lisette Teunissen, Marc Evers, Michael Schoenmaker and Summer Mortimer.

"The World Championships squad is growing in quality and scope,” he said. “During the last IPC Swimming World Championships in Montreal, the team consisted of 13 participants (four men and nine women). We now have a new generation showing very good progress in the last two seasons.

“The fact that the total of five men and 12 women are able to meet the heavy demand of international competition is a pleasant discovery and gives a lot of confidence for the season."

The next three months ahead of Glasgow 2015 will be devoted to preparing, Faber continued: "In May, we will travel to Mallorca for a basic training camp and in June it is the last preparatory training camp in Rio Maior (Portugal)."
