“This is a great way to mark the start of the British Sledge Hockey league season and it’s exciting to take a team to this prestigious European event.”

European Ice Sledge Hockey players will have the chance to finesse their skills on this weekend (14-15 April), as five all-star club teams from around the continent will take part in the Sportlife Open in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

The games will be played according to the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) rulebook and teams participating include: Sportlife Stars (Netherlands), Dresdner Cardinals (Germany), Nowaco Sharks (Czech Republic), Red Rovers (Great Britain) and Bremen Pirates (Germany).

Ten games will be played on Saturday and three on Sunday.

“This is a great way to mark the start of the British Sledge Hockey league season and it’s exciting to take a team to this prestigious European event,” Red Rovers team manager Captain Geddes said.

“We have chosen to take players from all of the teams participating in the league this season with the intent of inspiring them and setting the standard of play for the forthcoming league season.”

For the Red Rovers, it will be the first time that Caroline Bonner competes alongside British players instead of being part of the European women’s Ice Sledge Hockey programme.
