Goalball Rio 2016 schedule released

The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Goalball Committee and the Rio 2016 Organising Committee have released the competition schedule for September´s Paralympic Games.

Brazil and Sweden will kick off the men´s event on 8 September, whilst the hosts will face the USA in the women´s inaugural game.

The group stage will be contested until 13 September, with the best four teams from each pool qualifying for the knock-out stage. Medal games will be played on 16 September.

The goalball competition will take place at the Future Arena.

Pools

Men's pool A: Brazil, Algeria, Canada, Germany and Sweden

Men's pool B: Finland, USA, Turkey, China and Lithuania

Women's pool C: USA, Japan, Algeria, Brazil and Israel

Women's pool D: Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Canada and China

Sport fans from around the world can now buy their Paralympic tickets for Rio 2016 from authorised ticket resellers (ATRs)

The IPC’s Global ATR is Jet Set Sports, and Rio 2016 tickets and packages can be purchased on the CoSport website.

Residents of Brazil can buy 2016 Paralympics tickets directly from the Rio 2016 website.
