The top-placing Ice Sledge Hockey team from the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games has recently named their new line-up of athletes for the upcoming 2010-2011 season.

Announced on 3 August, the new team list includes a total of ten athletes who played in the Vancouver Paralympics to win the gold medal. Head Coach of Team USA Ray Maluta said that every year the quality of players who participate in the national team tryouts improves, and that there is a great mixture of youth and experience on the team this year.

Those returning from last season’s team are goalie Steve Cash, defensemen Taylor Chace, Jimmy Connelly, Nikko Landeros and Josh Pauls, and forwards Tim Jones, Taylor Lipsett, Adam Page, Alexi Salamone and Greg Shaw.

Joining the team for the first time are four members of the 2009-2010 USA National Junior Sledge Hockey Team, including defenseman Tyler Carron and forwards Daniel McCoy, Danny McDevitt and Kevin McKee. Rounding out the squad are newcomers goalie Jen Yung Lee and forward Rico Roman.

The USA Ice Sledge Hockey team captured the gold medal at the Vancouver Paralympics 2:0 against Japan in an intense final game. The USA’s leading scorer during the Paralympic Winter Games was Alexi Salamone, who will be returning for the 2010-2011 season.
