Ireland’s Jason Smyth, dubbed the fastest Paralympian on the planet, provides this week’s Holiday Hotspot.

The 29-year-old has an unblemished record at major events, with five Paralympic, five world and two European titles to his name. Occasionally, he considers what it would be like to sit back and relax…but where would he go?

Jason Smyth - My Holiday Hotspot:

“I’d go to the Maldives. I’ve never been, but I’d just like somewhere warm, somewhere you can relax, there’s nowhere to go…you think of the sand, the blue water. You’re just somewhere beautiful really.”

My two essential items:

“Two things I’d bring with me? Well I’d need sun cream for sure. And what else? The thing is about being somewhere like that is you don’t want anything! Sun cream and sunglasses, there you go.”

Smyth will be one of around 1,300 athletes from over 100 countries competing at the London 2017 World Para Athletics Championships. To buy tickets, please click here.
