Iceland Announces Team of Four for London 2012

All members of Team Iceland will participate in their first Paralympic Games ever.

NPC Iceland has announced the four athletes who will represent the nation at the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Iceland will send two athletes for competition in Athletics and two athletes for the Swimming competition. Each sport will include one female and one male athletes.

The full team list is::

Helgi Sveinsson, Athletics, Age 33:

Javelin F42, Long Jump F42, 100m T42

Matthildur Ylfa Þorsteinsdóttir, Athletics, Age 15:

Long Jump F37, 100m T37, 200m T37

Jón Margeir Sverrisson, Swimming, Age 19:

200m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke

Kolbrún Alda Stefánsdóttir, Swimming, Age: 15

200m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 100m Breaststroke

Team Iceland will depart for London on the 25 August and return back to Iceland. All members of Team Iceland will participate in their first Paralympic Games ever. During the Opening Ceremony Helgi Sveinsson will be the Icelandic flagbearer.
