The Sport Technical Committee for the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics will be meeting in San Diego this week (1 and 2 October) to discuss a variety of topics including final preparations for January’s World Championships and Sports Forum in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Established to look after the co-ordination and direction of the sport, the Committee, which meets twice yearly, will also be discussing qualification standards for London 2012, the first specific rule book for the sport and the development of the IPC Academy technical and classification programmes. No final decisions will be taken at the meeting on the topics discussed.

During the two day meeting hosted by the US Paralympic Committee at the US Olympic Training Centre, Chula Vista, the Committee will also review tender documents it sends to cities interested in staging high profile IPC Athletics events.
