Lennart’s belief that you could find the strength within yourself to succeed no matter what, was very special and something that very much fits with our own ethos."

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is saddened by the passing of Lennart Blomberg, owner of IPC Powerlifting’s official partner Eleiko.

The Swedish based lifting equipment manufacturer have formally supported IPC Powerlifting since 2014, but hundreds of athletes have used Eleiko’s equipment at a variety of competitions and Paralympic Games over many years.

Sir Philip Craven, IPC President, said: “Lennart’s belief that you could find the strength within yourself to succeed no matter what, was very special and something that very much fits with our own ethos.

“His attitudes and convictions clearly punctuated the whole of Eleiko and his legacy will live on through all the amazing performances of athletes we are yet to witness.

“I would like to pass on my sincere condolences, on behalf of the Paralympic Movement, to the Blomberg family and the entire company for this sad loss.”

IPC Powerlifting announced a five-year partnership agreement with Eleiko in October 2014.

Blomberg’s son Erik continues as the company’s Chief Executive Officer.
