The Iranian National Paralympic Committee (NPC) has named 19 athletes who will represent their country at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships held 21-31 October in Doha, Qatar.

Mohsen Kaedi is among the standouts on the roster who will look to defend his world title in the men’s javelin F33/34 and improve upon his bronze medal in the shot put F34 from the 2013 World Championships in Lyon, France.

Kaedi followed up that performance at the 2014 Incheon Asian Para Games in South Korea, with a silver medal in the men’s javelin and a bronze medal in the shot put. At the London 2012 Paralympic Games, Kaedi took home with two medals: gold in the javelin and silver in the shot put.

Mohammad Khalvandi, London 2012 gold medallist in the men’s javelin F57/58, is another standout on the Iranian roster who will seek to defend the World Championships gold he won in the same event from Lyon 2013.

Despite just missing the podium at London 2012, Seyed Erfan Hosseini Liravi, from Iranian Sports Federation for the Blinds, will hope to stand on the podium at Doha 2015 after a fourth-place finish from Lyon. At Incheon 2014, Hosseini Liravi took gold in the men’s javelin F12/13.

Ali Mohammadyari, Paralympic bronze medallist in the men’s discus F54/56, will look to add a medal for Iran and he will also compete in the shot put.

Outside the field events, Peyman Nasiri Bazanjani, defending Paralympic and world gold medallist in the 1,500m T20, will look to capture a medal.
