The International Triathlon Union (ITU) has announced the list of candidates for various elected positions within its structure, with elections scheduled for 11 December in Madrid, Spain, during ITU’s annual Congress.

Fourteen candidates are running for seven available positions in the Para triathlon committee.

ITU elections are held every four years in the year of the Summer Games. This will be the first elections to take place following the sport’s successful Paralympic debut at Rio 2016.

With the exception of the Athlete’s Committee, which was recently voted on by athletes, all seats and committees are up for re-election including the President, Vice President, Executive Board and committee positions. Five candidates for the Para triathlon committee are seeking re-election.

More than 90 individuals from 32 National Federations are running for 61 available positions, with current ITU President and International Olympic Committee Member Marisol Casado running unopposed for another term.

According to the ITU’s Constitution, the CVs of each candidate are published on the ITU website.

During the Congress, the ITU has arranged space and time for each Committee and Confederation to hold end of year meetings, as well as attend a gala dinner. The last Executive Board meeting of 2016 will also be held prior to elections. More information on the 2016 ITU Congress Madrid can be found on the ITU’s website.
