ITU World Para-triathlon events for 2015 revealed

Events will be held in all five continents next year as the sport gears up for its Paralympic debut at Rio 2016. 02 Dec 2014

The International Triathlon Union (ITU) has confirmed several dates on the 2015 para-triathlon calendar with events set to feature on every continent in the preparation for para-triathlon’s debut in the 2016 Paralympic Games.

The confirmed events are:

- 2015 East London ITU World Para-triathlon Event, (South Africa): 1 March

- 2015 Sunshine Coast ITU World Para-triathlon Event, (Australia): 13 March

- 2015 Madrid ITU World Para-triathlon Event, (Spain): 10 May

- 2015 Yokohama ITU World Para-triathlon Event, (Japan): 16 May

- 2015 London ITU World Para-triathlon Event, (Great Britain): 30 May

- 2015 Besançon ITU World Para-triathlon Event, (France): 7 June

- 2015 Iseo – Franciacorta ITU World Para-triathlon Event, (Italy): 19 July

- 2015 Rio de Janeiro ITU World Para-triathlon Event, (Brazil): 1-2 August**

- 2015 Detroit ITU World Para-triathlon Event, (USA): 15-16 August

- 2015 Edmonton ITU World Para-triathlon Event, (Canada): 5-6 September

- 2015 Chicago ITU World Para-triathlon Championships (USA): 15-20 September

ITU expects to add at least two races to the calendar in the coming weeks with interest from cities in Europe and Australia.

In addition to the ITU World Para-triathlon Events, three Continental Championships have been confirmed, but are expected on all five continents.

Continental Championships to date:

- 2015 Penrith OTU Para-triathlon Oceania Championship, (Australia): 11 January

- 2015 Sharm El Sheikh ATU Para-triathlon African Championship, (Egypt): 10 May

- 2015 Geneva ETU Para-triathlon European Championship, (Switzerland): 10 July

The para-triathlon season will culminate with the World Championships in Chicago, USA over the week of 15-20 in September, 2015.
