Norway and Czech Republic Remain Unbeaten in Ice Sledge Hockey Europeans

Norway and the Czech Republic remain unbeaten in the 2011 Ice Sledge Hockey European Championships in Solleftea, Sweden after the final group games of the tournament.

On Thursday (17 April) Norway beat Germany 4:1 to top Group A and advance to the semi-finals with a total of 44 goals. Estonia finished second with a 15:0 victory over Great Britain and will play the Czech Republic in the semi-finals on Saturday.

Czech Republic and Italy, the two previously unbeaten sides in Group B battled it out for top spot, with the Czechs coming out on top thanks to a 3:0 victory. Both teams advanced to the semi-finals.

Host Sweden secured their second victory of the tournament with a 7:2 win over Poland.

On Friday, Poland and the Netherlands face each other to determine 9th and 10th place of the tournament.

Saturday will see classification games between Germany and Russia and Sweden and Great Britain. The winners of these games will play for 6th place on Sunday, the losers for 8th place.

In the semi-finals Norway will face Italy at 17:00 on Saturday and the Czech Republic will play Estonia at 20:30 on the same day. The final will take place on Sunday at 20:30.

More than 130 players from 10 different countries are competing in the 2011 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey European Championships, held in Solleftea, Sweden.
