The 2025 World Abilitysport Beach Games, in collaboration with local organisers and the National Paralympic Committee of Turkiye, have been awarded World Para Powerlifting's first outdoor World Cup to be held in Mersin, Turkiye.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the city’s 16km of Mediterranean coastline, Mersin Kultur Park will host athletes at the inaugural World Abilitysport Beach Games for aquatic, beach and open-air sports from 18 to 25 October 2025.

"We are thrilled to see World Para Powerlifting make history as part of the first-ever Beach Games. Our sincere gratitude to the Local Organising Committee and World AbilitySport for their dedication to inclusivity and excellence,” Jorge Moreno, Head of World Para Powerlifting, said. “To all teams and athletes: this is your moment to embrace the challenge, showcase your strength, and be part of an unforgettable experience. See you at the Beach Games!"

World Abilitysport President, Rudi Van den Abbeele, added:

“We are delighted to once again collaborate with World Para Powerlifting and break new ground with the first outdoor Para powerlifting event. World Abilitysport is always eager to innovate and provide fresh opportunities to our members and their athletes. The location of this event makes it an unmissable opportunity for athletes looking to showcase their talent in unforgettable surroundings.”

The World Abilitysport Beach Games directly follows the Cairo 2025 World Para Powerlifting Elite World Championships, providing athletes with simpler access to another major competition in the Mediterranean region.

Centrally located near the city's marina, the competition will be held in the cultural hub of the Turkish city in an amphitheatre style venue designed to attract the people of Mersin to engage with the sport.

World Abilitysport CEO, Charmaine Hooper said: "This historical event will bring the sport to the people inviting members of the public to engage with the sport in ways a sports hall or conferencing space cannot. We can't wait to see the sport capture the imaginations of the people of Mersin and to provide an unforgettable ‘muscle-beach’ style stage for the athletes to compete.”

The World Para Powerlifting World Cup joins the 2025 World Beach ParaVolley Championships which were recently announced for the programme in what will be their second edition.

Entry by number will open in mid-May with final entries closing in early September.
