Para swimming stars share their goals for 2025

The new season kicks off in February with the Para Swimming World Series in Australia, while the biggest event of the year, the World Para Swimming Championships, will take place in September in Singapore.
For Yip Pin Xiu, Singapore’s most-decorated Paralympian, competing in the first-ever World Championships to be held in Asia is her primary goal for the season.
This year's World Championships is also the main goal for Uganda's Husnah Kukundakwe. The 17-year-old said her dream is to reach another final as she did at the Manchester 2023 Worlds.

Brazilian Para swimmer Gabriel Araujo, also known as Gabrielzinho, capped off 2024 by adding another accolade to his collection: he was named Male Para Sport Athlete of the Year by the French newspaper L’Equipe – another Para swimmer, China’s Yuyan Jiang, took home the Women’s Para Sport Athlete of the Year award.
Looking ahead to 2025, Gabrielzinho’s goal is to keep pushing his limits and, above all, to “have fun.”
Italy's Paralympic and world champion Simone Barlaam was another star that share his goals for the the new year, hoping to travel a bit and "try new things".
Also a Paralympic and world champion, Great Britain's Ellie Challis said:
"[I want to] have fun racing and enjoy meets no matter the outcome!"
