World Para Swimming has published the updated 2022 World Series calendar confirming Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy as the third stop of the season.

The sixth edition of the World Series already had Aberdeen, Great Britain and Melbourne, Australia announced as the first two legs in 2022.

The new season will kick off on 17 January at Aberdeen Sports Village’s Aquatics Centre with Melbourne set to start the day after at the Melbourne Sports Centres (MSAC). The swimming pool complex in the Australian city received the World Series in 2019 and 2020.

Dates of confirmed events

Aberdeen, Great Britain
17-20 February

Melbourne, Australia
18-20 February

Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy
11-13 March

As in previous seasons, the results at each World Series will be calculated using a standardised World Para Swimming points system via an online virtual competition platform.

This ensures that the overall World Series winner will be the best performing athlete over the duration of the series. After each event, the World Series rankings will be updated on the World Para Swimming Website.

World Para Swimming is currently in discussions with potential hosts cities and expects to announce the complete 2022 World Series calendar shortly.
