Paralympic champion Valenzuela shines at National Games

London 2012 Paralympic gold medallist Cristian Valenzuela did not disappoint his home crowd, winning double gold in the men’s 1,500m and 5,000m T11 at the Chilean Para National Games, which are taking place across the Bio-Bio region.

Rio 2016 Paralympian Amanda Cerna was another top Chilean athlete competing at this event, finishing first in both the 100m and 400m T47.

Concepcion, Chillan, Los Angeles, Talcahuano and Hualpen y Quillon are the six cities staging this event, which will run until 20 May and includes athletics, goalball, table tennis and wheelchair basketball in its Para sports programme.
