Stars and newcomers delivered plenty of triumphs at the Stade de France on Wednesday (4 September), day six of the Para athletics action at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Markus Rehm did what he came to Paris for claiming his fourth consecutive gold medal in the men’s long jump T64, his fifth overall Games victory.

"I am incredibly proud and grateful. A dream has come true. It was a difficult competition for all of us, but at the end of the day the medal is what counts and gold is unbelievably great," Rehm said. "If you win the fourth gold medal at the fourth Games, it's unbelievable. That was the goal."

China’s Shi Yiting bagged her second gold in as many events at Stade de France defending her 100m T36 title with a Paralympic record (13.39), 0.04 ahead of silver medallist Danielle Aitchison of New Zealand.

Brazil’s Veronica Hipolito took silver, her third Paralympic medal in her return to the Games after eight years battling with health issues.

Mexico’s Juan Pablo Cervantes beat his idol Leo-Pekka Tahti of Finland to take his first-ever Paralympic gold in the men’s 100m T54. Belgium’s newcomer Lea Bayekula set a Paralympic record (15.50) to beat USA legend Tatyana McFadden in the women’s 100m T54 final.

"It will take time for it to sink in. It means a lot of things. As I said, with my team, we've worked a lot, and so, for me, it's a victory for all of us, for all the work we've done together,” Bayekula said about winning gold in her first Paralympic Games. “We're very, very proud. Representing Belgium, for me, it's huge."

In the morning, Tunisia’s Raoua Tlili had a sweet revenge taking her second gold of Paris 2024. She won the women’s discus F41 by just nine centimetres from Morocco’s Youssa Karim, who snatched her world title just three months ago.

Wearing her trademark backwards cap and wide grin, Tlili posted a winning effort of 36.55m before leaping into the stands to repeat her wild celebrations from the first morning of track and field when she took the shot put F41 crown.

It was the eighth Paralympic medal of Tlili’s career. The 34-year-old has now done the shot-discus double at three successive Games.

“I won the war and won the gold medal,” Tlili said. “She (Karim) has got lots of confidence in herself, but this was my fifth Games and I have got the experience.”

Noelle Malkamaki of USA became the first female F46 shot putter to throw 14 metres as she broke her own world record twice to take the women’s javelin F46 gold at her debut Games.

It will take time for it to sink in. It means a lot of things. As I said, with my team, we've worked a lot, and so, for me, it's a victory for all of us, for all the work we've done together
