After going undefeated during the regular season and finishing top of the league, the Kingston Kestrels suffered their first loss in the most important game of the season, falling to the Peterborough Phantoms in the championship game of the Planet Ice British Sledge Hockey League on Saturday (20 August).

The Kestrels had a successful season, finishing the season with 24 points partly due to the form of Paralympic veteran Karl Nicholson, who led the squad with 21 goals and 34 assists during the season. His teammate Matt Clarkson provided a nice compliment with his 32 goals and 18 assists.

The Phantoms received invaluable leadership from Paralympic veteran Gary Farmer, who finished the season with 14 goals and five assists.

Next season, the League plans on expanding to 12 teams as players begin to fight for spots to compete for Great Britain at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Games.
