Russia once again dominated their home ice in Podolsk on Wednesday (15 January) at the International Sledge Hockey Tournament, cruising to a 7-0 victory over Norway to pick up their second win in as many days.

Vasilii Varlakov scored twice for the Russians – in both the first and second periods – with Evgeny Petrov, Dyinyanivov and Dmitry Lisov.

Mikhail Ivanov recorded the shutout for the Russians, playing all 45 minutes between the posts.

In the day’s other game, the Czech Republic defeated Sweden 4-2 thanks to two goals late in the third period.

Zdenk Krupicka got the Czechs off to an early 1-0 lead, netting a score 9:20 into the game off a pass from Michal Geier, but 11 seconds into the second period Sweden’s Niklas Ingvarsson scored unassisted to tie it up.

Sweden took a one-goal lead late in the second with another score from Ingvarsson, though Jiri Berger chipped one into the net just a minute later to tie it back up.

In the third period, both David Motycka and Berger score for the Czechs in the final five minutes to give them the victory.

The tournament concludes with two more games on Thursday (16 January).
