The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee has today announced that the mascot competition for the Paralympic Games in Sochi is now accepting international entries.

Contest organizers made this decision after the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee reported that they had received a large number of proposals from Russian nationals living outside the country, as well as from foreign fans of the Paralympic movement.

The President and CEO of the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee Dmitry Chernyshenko remarked: “The Olympic and Paralympic movements are without borders. Their mission is to bring together representatives from different nations and countries in the name of sports and peace. That is why we have decided that everyone should have the opportunity to propose a mascot idea for consideration, regardless of nationality or country of residence. We are delighted to welcome all individuals with a strong passion for Russian culture and language to participate.”

Residents of the United States of America, Austria, Belarus, Estonia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan have already sent proposals during three weeks of the contest. All submissions from foreign nationals will be processed according to the rules of the contest and, if satisfying these criteria, will be posted on the official website of the competition.
