“Our Paralympians are truly inspiring swimmers and that is what Speedo is all about.”

The Australian Paralympic Committee (APC) has announced that swimwear giant Speedo will be the official team supplier of the APC and the 2016 Australian Paralympic Swimming Team.

The announcement comes after Australia won 30 medals, nine gold, at the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships, which concluded on Sunday (19 July) in Glasgow, Great Britain.

“Speedo is Australia’s leading swimwear brand and we are very excited by the competitive edge that this renewed partnership can provide our Paralympic swimmers,” APC Chief Executive Michael Hartung said. “With three world records broken and 30 medals won by our swimmers at the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships, we are confident that with Speedo’s world class swimwear and support, our team will be able to keep improving and hopefully surpass all expectations in Rio.”

In what will be Speedo’s third consecutive Games sponsorship of an Australian Paralympic Swimming Team, the brand will become the exclusive provider of competition and training swimwear and accessories to the Australian team competing at Rio 2016.

“Our Paralympians are truly inspiring swimmers and that is what Speedo is all about,” Brand Manager – Speedo Pacific Graham Eyres said. “We love sharing our passion for the water and inspiring everyone, from babies all the way through to the elderly, to get in the water and enjoy the many physical and emotional benefits of swimming.”

The APC will be holding a sponsor workshop on 13 August to present opportunities for other brands with Paralympic activities.
