Marcel Hug, who holds world records in four different wheelchair racing events, beat off his Swiss teammate, Heinz Frei, by just one second to capture the Berlin Marathon title on Sunday (25 September).

Hug finished the race in a time of 1:29.31 to add another title to his resume heading into next year’s Paralympic Games in London, where he will race in the 400m, 800m, 1,500m and 5,000m races, and potentially the marathon.

After Frei’s (1:29.32) second-place finish, Australia’s Brett McArthur (1:35.04) and Russia’s Sergey Shilov (1:36.19) crossed the finish line on Sunday.

Switzerland’s Edith Hunkeler took the title on the women’s side with a time of 1:45.20.
