USA, the defending Paralympic and world champions in Ice Sledge Hockey, announced their 17-strong roster for the 2012-13 season this week.

The Americans will be led by returning captain and defenseman Taylor Chace, goalkeeper Steve Cash and forward Alexi Salamone – all three of whom made the All-Tournament Team when USA won gold at the 2012 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships in Hamar, Norway, in April.

The trio helped USA to defeat Korea, 5-1, in the gold-medal game in Hamar and the team has now finished first at the last three major international tournaments - the 2009 and 2012 world championships, as well as the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Winter Games.

Cash, a member of the team since 2005, played a vital role in the most recent Championships, notching a 92 save percentage for the winners. Salamone and Taylor Lipsett – also named to this year’s squad – worked together to anchor a powerful front line, as the pair recorded eight goals and six assists in Hamar.

Newcomers named to this year’s team include Craig Brady, Declan Farmer and Paul Schaus.

The rest of the roster is rounded out by returnees Tyler Carron, Jen Yung lee, Daniel McCoy, Kevin McKee, Adam Page, Josh Pauls, Rico Roman and Greg Shaw.

USA will attempt to defend their world title at the 2013 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships in Goyang City, Korea, which will take place from 12-20 April, 2013.
