According to the Beijing Tourism Bureau, member hotels in Beijing can now offer around 170 accessible or wheelchair friendly rooms for people with a disability. Several three-star hotels have undergone barrier-free renovation.

It is estimated that Beijing will see 450,000 to 500,000 overseas tourists during the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The city invested around Euro 6,5 million (= Yuan 70 million) on renovations in regards to accessibility at over sixty popular tourist attractions last year.
