Belgian wheelchair racer Peter Genyn has been recognised for his achievements in 2016 with the National Trophy Victory Boin.

The honour, which was also awarded to his club Wapper, has been given annually since 1974 and recognises a Para athlete’s outstanding performance of the last year and/or for their entire career.

After two European titles in the 100m and 400m T51 in 2015, Genyn added to those with golds at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Genyn began his sporting career in wheelchair rugby, but shortly after London 2012 he switched to athletics and saw quick success.
