Brazil sent four powerlifters to the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

These will all be vital competitions for athletes trying to make their way to the 2014 IPC Powerlifting World Championships, which will be held next April in Dubai, UAE.

There will be 120 athletes competing at the Sao Paulo National Competition this week – an event that will serve as Brazil’s national championships for powerlifting.

The four-day competition begins on Thursday (6 June) and will include four Paralympians who participated at London 2012 – Josilene Ferreira, Rodrigo Marques, Marcia Cristina Menezes and Alexsander Whitaker.

The event is one of three major national championship competitions this month in IPC Powerlifting. Great Britain’s National Championships will be held on Saturday (8 June), and later this month the French National Powerlifting Championships will be held from 21-22 June.

These will all be vital competitions for athletes trying to make their way to the 2014 IPC Powerlifting World Championships, which will be held next April in Dubai, UAE.
