“We are very keen to hear from the community to ensure that both the technical and classification elements of Para swimming are the best they can be, and we can keep making improvements.”

National Paralympic Committees (NPCs), National Federations and International Organisations of Sport for the Disabled (IOSDs) have just a few days left to join World Para Swimming’s consultation on its technical and classification rules and regulations, which closes on 30 April.

The International Federation for Para swimming is carrying out a full review of its current rules and regulations, and it hopes that organisations and people from the sport will take part.

Tracy Glassford, World Para Swimming Manager, said: “The aim of the consultation is to provide the Para swimming community with the chance to get even more involved, and to have their say on what we currently have in place.

“I encourage everyone, especially National Federations, coaches and swimmers, to submit their suggestions to their National Paralympic Committees so that they can be passed onto us.

“We are very keen to hear from the community to ensure that both the technical and classification elements of Para swimming are the best they can be, and we can keep making improvements.”

All relevant organisations have been provided with information on how to submit their feedback, whilst National Federations, coaches and athletes should contact their NPCs.

World Para Swimming will review the feedback in consultation with its Sport Technical Committee, Classification Advisory Group, Technical Advisory Group and the International Paralympic Committee’s (IPC) legal and medical and scientific departments.

Both updated classification and technical rulebooks will be published in December 2017 and come into effect 1 January 2018.

The current technical rules and regulations can be viewed at World Para Swimming’s website alongside the classification rules and regulations.
