EBU Signs Contract With CNC for Beijing Games

On 25 February, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) signed an important contract with CNC China Netcom Group for fibre and uplink services for the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games. 27 Feb 2008 By IPC

The contract was signed by Zhao Jidong, Executive Vice President of CNC, EBU Director General Jean Réveillon and Director of Eurovision Operations Stefan Kürten.

CNC is a leading broadband communications and fixed-line telecommunications operator in China and will act as one of the EBU’s major subcontractors for the Games. The European Broadcasting Union is the largest association of national broadcasters in the world (75 active Members, 45 associate Members). It offers members technical, operational and legal services, and co-ordinates a growing supply of quality content for radio, television and new platforms. The organization works to secure recognition of the crucial role of public service broadcasters in the digital audiovisual landscape.
