IPC publishes 2013 Annual Report
After a busy year for para-sport, the IPC has published its achievements from 2013. 23 Jul 2014

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has published its annual report and accounts for 2013 after what was an extremely busy year for the international governing body of the Paralympic Movement.
In a packed year of sport, the IPC successfully delivered World Championships in alpine skiing, athletics, biathlon, cross-country skiing, ice sledge hockey, swimming and wheelchair dance sport in 2013, and oversaw regional Championships in powerlifting and shooting.
The IPC extended its partnerships with Atos and Allianz through to 2016, whilst the support of BP was secured as a new international partner for a similar timeframe.
By selling of the broadcast rights for future Paralympic Games on behalf of organising committees, the IPC also secured innovative two Games deals for Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016 with a number of broadcasters in many major territories. In addition to more broadcasters signing deals than ever before, they also committed to showing more para-sport coverage than previously.
The IPC’s website www.paralympic.org attracted a record number of visitors in 2013 for a non-Paralympic Games year. Nearly 2.1 million people visited the site, up 256 per cent on the 578,546 who logged on in 2011, whilst there was also significant growth across all social media channels.
As well as providing greater financial support to non-IPC Sport Federations and regional organisations, the Agitos Foundation, the IPC’s development arm provided EUR 630,000 of funding to 32 IPC members as part of the Grand Support Programme to develop para-sport around the world.

“By implementing the IPC Strategic Plan 2011-2014, the IPC staged a number of successful regional and World Championships, secured long-term broadcast deals, extended sponsorship agreements and generated record revenues.
“As a result the IPC was able to provide more support to its members than ever before and the organisation managed to build up the momentum and feel good factor of London 2012.”
Due to the increase in workload to service a rapidly growing Movement, the IPC management team grew from 49 to 66 people in 2013 and, as a result, the IPC moved into a second building in Bonn, Germany.
