Iran sets two Asian records at National Championships

Two Asian records were broken at the Iran National Para-Athletics Championships, which were held 30-31 May in Tehran.

Mahnaz Amini and Sajad Mohammadian all set new marks in their respective field events, generating much excitement for Iran leading up to the IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha, Qatar, from 22-31 October.

Amini threw 7.97m in the F57 shot put to set a new Asian record. Mohammadian threw 14.30m in the men’s F42 shot put to reset his own record.

More than 300 athletes from around the country competed at the Aftab Sport Complex, with over 150 women participating.

IPC Athletics Technical Delegate Abdelnasser Brahamia was in attendance to ensure that the competition followed the IPC Athletics Technical Rules and Regulations.
