Brazilian and US Paralympians will light up the range when shooting Para sport makes its historic Parapan American Games debut from 23 August in Lima, Peru.

The US has announced 12 athletes, including six 2016 Paralympians, heading to Lima 2019. The roster includes 2016 Paralympic bronze medallist McKenna Dahl, along with fellow rifle Paralympians Jazmin Almlie-Ryan and John Joss.

Dahl earned her medal in the R5 (mixed 10m air rifle standing SH2) at Rio 2016, becoming the first US woman to medal in the sport at a Paralympics.

Joss, also a Rio Paralympian, is the lone athlete to have secured a Tokyo 2020 Paralympic quota to date in R6 (mixed 50m rifle prone SH1) by virtue of a second-place finish at the 2018 World Cup in Chateauroux, France.

Team USA’s complete shooting Para sport roster for Lima 2019 can be found online.

Brazil’s best

Brazil will send a eight-strong team to Lima, with four Rio 2016 Paralympians – Alexandre Galgani, Debora Campos, Carlos Garletti and Geraldo von Rosenthal – expected to bring home glory.

Galgani proved he is a contender in the R5 after silver in February’s World Cup in Al Ain, UAE.

They will be joined by Bruno Kiefer, Marcelo Hyroshi Marton, Ricardo Costa and Sergio Vida.

The shooting Para sport competition at Lima 2019 will be held at Poligono Las Palmas from 24-27 August.
