Italy’s World Championships medallist Mirko Cafaggi could not have hoped for a better return to action as he left no chance to his opponents and took the gold medal in the first International Sellier & Bellot Para Trap Competition in Brno.

The three-day competition ended on Saturday (12 September) marking the first-ever international Para trap event in Czech Republic – and also the 2020 season kick-off.

Cafaggi, a Sydney 2019 silver medallist, finished first in the PT3 class hitting 34 targets. Sydney 2019 bronze medallist Emilio Poli completed Italy’s one-two podium scoring 32.

“I am a very happy with the competition and with my result. I would like to thank the organisation, as it was a very good shooting range and a great event,” Cofaggi said.

Luxembourg’s Steve Nothum hit 23 to take the PT3 bronze medal in Brno.

Germany’s Thomas Hoefs was the winner in the PT1 followed by Czech Republic’s Jaroslav Klimes (silver) and Roman Telicka (bronze).

Only local athletes competed in the PT2 class. Milan Kolar took the gold medal, with Miroslav Lidinsky in second and Lukas Lehovec in third.

A total of 18 shooters from five countries were in action at the Brno Sobesice Shooting Range.
