Italy, Spain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) topped the podium in the second edition of the International Sellier & Bellot Para Trap Championships which ended in Brno, Czech Republic on Saturday (24 July).

Mirko Cafaggi defended his title in the PT3 class in a one-two Italian podium with Gabriele Nanni in second. Luxembourg’s Steve Nothum finished third.

UAE dominated the PT1 class with three athletes in the top four, including gold medallist Mohammed Alhebsi and bronze medallist Momammed Alhashmi. Italy’s Davide Fedrigucci took silver.

The PT2 class saw Spain’s Ignacio Oloriz beat Sydney 2019 world champion Alessandro Spagnoli from Italy. Another Italian, Antonio Ventre, took the third place.

The competition in Brno also hosted an unofficial Open event with athletes from different classes. PT3 silver medallist Nanni led another Italian one-two followed by Ventre. Spain’s Oloriz finished with the bronze medal.

Sixty-eight shooters from nine countries competed during two days in Czech Republic, showing the continuous development in Para trap with a number almost four times higher than in the 2020 edition – the first international shooting Para sport event during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2021 International Sellier & Bellot Para Trap Championships was organised by the Czech Shooting Association of the Disabled (CZDSA) and the Czech Shooting Federation.

The competition marked the last international Para trap event before the world’s best travel to Italy for the Lonato 2021 World Championships in late September.
