“We have seen excellent progress in all areas of the Paralympic Games and our friends from BOCOG are well on track with the preparations."

Only eight months before the start of the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, the trip also included an in-depth project review and visit to the airport as well as to the Paralympic Village.

From 28 to 29 January, several working group meetings as well as additional side-meetings focused on the status of the Paralympic preparations. Topics discussed included sports, transport, venue operations as well as marketing and promotion.

On 29 January, a Paralympic specific Sponsor Workshop was also held in Beijing with approximately 100 representatives from Paralympic sponsors in attendance.

The week concluded with a two-days visit to the Paralympic Equestrian facilities in Hong Kong.

Said Sir Philip: “We have seen excellent progress in all areas of the Paralympic Games and our friends from BOCOG are well on track with the preparations. At this stage, it will be critical to finalize the overlay in the venues and upgrades in the city, so that all participants can enjoy an accessible Games environment.”

The next milestone will be the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Co-ordination Commission from 1 to 4 April in Beijing.
