Iceland’s reigning Paralympic champion Jon Margeir Sverrisson will swim for gold and hope to retain his title from London 2012 on Sunday (11 September).

Great Britain’s European champion Thomas Hamer could spoil Sverrisson’s plan and is a strong favourite for the top of the podium as well.

Australia’s Daniel Fox could also be a real threat to the British and Icelandic swimmers. Fox finished second behind Sverrisson at London 2012, but posted the fastest time this year.

Fox’s time was tantaslisingly close to the world record, and in Rio he has another chance to put his name next to the world’s fastest mark.

All the swimming action will be played out at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium between 9-17 September.
