One of the most exciting events of the Paralympic Games in Rio is taking place on Tuesday (13 September).

Great Britain’s Eleanor Simmonds is diving into the pool as the two-time Paralympic champion having won the gold at Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

Ukraine’s Yelyzaveta Mereshko will be a real threat to Simmonds’ medal hunt in Rio. Mereshko broke the Briton’s eight year winning streak in this event when she sealed the gold at the 2015 World Championships.

Simmonds sent another signal to her rival breaking her world record in April 2016. Mereshko swiftly followed her when she set up a new world record at the 2016 European Open Championships in May.

In Rio both athletes will fight to step on the top of the podium providing an absolutely thrilling spectacle.

All the swimming action will be played out at the Olympic Aquatics Stadium between 9-17 September.
