Japanese swimming goggle brand Swans owned by Yamamoto Kogaku Co., Ltd has been confirmed as an official supplier of the Manchester 2023 Para Swimming World Championships, which will be held at the newly refurbished Manchester Aquatics Centre from 31 July to 6 August 2023.

The Yamamoto Kogaku Co., Ltd originated in Osaka in 1911 and over a century later they are known for producing the highest quality swimming goggles under Swans brand that are used by swimmers of all abilities around the globe. The announcement continues the long-standing relationship with World Para Swimming which began in 2017 and has seen Swans supply equipment to athletes competing at international events, specifically the Swans blackened goggles for vision impaired athletes in classes S/SB/SM11. To ensure fair competition, swimmers in those classes are required to wear goggles which are completely blackened out, such that no light passes through the lens.

“Swans has a clear long-term commitment to Para Swimming and the technical expertise they bring has really contributed to the progression of our visually impaired athletes," Craig Nicholson, Head of World Para Swimming said. "Their experience producing swimming goggles to create sport specific equipment and support the development of our sport continues to have an impact. It is great to have them as an official supplier for the World Championships."

Mr. Naoyuki Yamamoto, President of Yamamoto Kogaku Co., Ltd said:

“We are very honored that SWANS continues to be recognized as the official supplier of the prestigious Manchester 2023 Para Swimming World Championships. In collaboration with the World Para Swimming community, we hope to contribute to the competition with products that utilize our technical expertise to provide a fair and comfortable competition environment.”

The biggest Para swimming event outside of the Paralympic Games, Manchester 2023 will be the third time the World Championships have taken place in Great Britain. The last time at London 2019, 637 swimmers from 77 nations were welcomed with 188 records broken, including 39 world records and over 143 million people watching around the world.
