Swiss name strong team for marathon World Championships

Swiss Paralympics has named a strong team of five athletes who will compete in the T54 class at the IPC Athletics Marathon World Championships in London, Great Britain, on 26 April.

Both the defending world champions from 2013 in Lyon, France – Marcel Hug and Manuela Schaer – headline the Swiss team and are named alongside Heinz Frei, Sandra Graf and Tobias Loetscher.

Frei is a four-time marathon world champion, having last won in 2002 in Lille, France, whilst Graf has three career marathon podiums to her name.

The IPC Athletics Marathon World Championships is held as part of the Virgin Money London Marathon. Between 22-31 October, the IPC Athletics World Championships will take place in Doha, Qatar, attracting around 1,300 athletes from 90 countries.
