Wheelchair Basketball Test Event Underway

The Good Luck Beijing 2008 Wheelchair Basketball International Invitational Tournament is currently underway in Beijing, China.

After the first day of matches, the Chinese women’s team lost against Japan with 62-47, while Germany defeated Canada, the current World Champions, with 65-57 in overtime. In the men's division, Australia defeated China 75-46 and Canada won against the Netherlands with 69-31.

One of the highlights of the Wheelchair Basketball Test Event will be the draw for the pools for the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, which will take place on 23 January in Beijing. Amongst various officials from the Beijing 2008 Organizing Committee (BOCOG) and the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF), International Paralympic Committee (IPC) President and former Wheelchair Basketball player, Sir Philip Craven will attend the draw as well as watch several exciting matches.
