From 6–15 March 2026, the world’s top Para athletes will gather in Italy for the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Dolomites, Paralympic athletes will fight for glory in 79 medal events across six exciting sports: Para alpine skiing, Para biathlon, Para cross-country skiing, Para ice hockey, Para snowboard and wheelchair curling.

Para Alpine SKiing

Para alpine skiing is an exciting, technical, and daring sport in which athletes race down steep slopes at speeds of over 100 kilometres per hour. The sport has featured at every Paralympic Winter Games since the inaugural edition in 1976.

Athletes will compete in 30 medal events at Milano Cortina 2026.

Para Biathlon

Para biathlon combines cross-country skiing and target shooting. The sport has delivered many dramatic and memorable moments since its Paralympic debut at Innsbruck 1988.

Eighteen Para biathlon events will take place at the Tesero Cross-Country Skiing Stadium in Val di Fiemme.

Para cross-country skiing is a sport of determination and endurance, with athletes racing long distances across varied terrain. It was one of the two sports on the programme at the first Paralympic Winter Games in Örnsköldsvik 1976.

At Milano Cortina 2026, athletes will compete for gold in 20 medal events.

Para Ice Hockey

Para Ice Hockey

Para ice hockey is a fast, physical, and action-packed sport. Players use specially designed sledges fitted with two blades, allowing the puck to pass underneath. The sport made its Paralympic debut at Lillehammer 1994 and has attracted many fans over the years.

Eight teams – Italy, Canada, China, Czechia, Germany, Japan, Slovakia, and the USA – will compete for glory at the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.

Para Snowboard

Para Snowboard

Para snowboard is fast, fearless, and unforgettable. It is the most recent addition to the Paralympic Winter Games programme, making its debut at Sochi 2014. Beijing 2022 featured 75 athletes from 21 countries, with China topping the medals table.

Eight medal events will be contested at the Cortina Para Snowboard Park.

Wheelchair Curling

Wheelchair Curling

Wheelchair curling is a sport of teamwork and precision. The sport will return to Italy, which hosted the inaugural Paralympic competition at Torino 2006. At Milano Cortina 2026, the mixed doubles event will make its Paralympic debut, adding to the history of the sport.

Up to 66 wheelchair curlers will aim for the spotlight at the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium, which will also host the Milano Cortina 2026 Closing Ceremony.
