The World Shooting Para Sport World Cup in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, which was scheduled to take place from 11-22 March, has been cancelled.

The decision was taken by the Al Ain 2020 Local Organising Committee (LOC) following discussions with the UAE national health authorities amid concerns related to the COVID-19 coronavirus.

World Shooting Para Sport regrets the cancelation of the event but supports the decision to prioritise athletes’ health and well-being.

A total of 198 athletes from 49 countries were set to compete in Al Ain, one of the biggest and most competitive events in the international calendar.

The Al Ain World Cup was not a qualification event for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and is set to take place again in March 2021.

The next World Cup will be hosted by Lima, Peru, from 22-31 May. It will be the final Tokyo 2020 qualification event.
