More than 270 athletes from 17 countries around the world head to Arizona, USA this week (12-13 May) for the fifth Grand Prix of the 2017 World Para Athletics season.

Here are five reasons why you should follow the action:

1. The Grand Prix takes place exactly nine weeks before the start of the World Para Athletics Championships, and three weeks before the US Trials – the clock is ticking!

2. Seven of the USA’s 10 Paralympic track and field champions from Rio 2016 will compete in Arizona.

3. Two world records were broken at the Grand Prix last year – Great Britain’s Aled Davies threw 16.13m in the shot put F42 and David Blair managed 63.61m in the discus F44. Blair lines up again this week.

4. The USA’s former 100m 44 world record holder Jarryd Wallace is back in action after a disappointing Rio 2016. He clocked an impressive 10.78 here last year.

5. Who likes it hot? The temperature in Arizona is forecast to reach 37°celcius/99°Fahrenheit!

The Arizona Grand Prix is the fifth event in the 2017 World Para Athletics series and takes place 12-13 May.
