Lonato del Garda, Italy will host the second edition of the Para Trap World Championships from Friday to Saturday (24 and 25 September).

Sixty-six athletes from 16 countries will be in action in six medal events across three sport classes at the Trap Concaverde in Northern Italy.

All athletes compete on Friday (shooting 75 targets) and Saturday (50 targets). The top six shooters from the 125-target competition advance to the finals. Six countries will also take part in team events on Saturday.

The first edition of the Para Trap Worlds three years ago in Lonato saw Australia, Finland and the host nation topping the podium in the PT1, PT2 and PT3 events, respectively.

Italy’s Francesco Nespeca was the winner at Lonato del Garda 2018 and also took gold in the PT3 at the World Shooting Para Sport Championships the following year in Sydney, Australia.

Sydney 2019 saw more Italian victories in the PT1 with Oreste Lai and the PT2 with Alessandro Spagnoli. They will both be competing in Lonato.

The World Championships was initially set to be held in 2020 but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are thrilled that the long awaited 2021 Para Trap World Championships is here. We are at one of the best shooting ranges in the world with many top athletes. This will be an important step on the development of Para Trap and no doubt a thrilling competition. Our thanks to the Italian Target Shooting Federation (FITAV) and Trap Concaverde for their ongoing support of Para Trap,” Tyler Anderson, World Shooting Para Sport Manager, said.
