Denmark’s three-time Paralympic champion Jackie Christiansen has officially called an end to his illustrious career. The shot put sensation has been plagued by injuries during the final years of his career.

Christiansen, 38, is proud of his many accomplishments since debuting at Sydney Paralympic Games in 2000. These include a total of 14 medals from the European and World Championships.

“I have grown accustomed to winning, and for various reasons, that is no longer possible. I have thought long and hard about this since the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships, and it has become clear to me, that the time is right,” said Christiansen, who came away with a silver medal in the men’s shot put F44 at Doha 2015.

The Aarhus-based Dane is now looking forward to spending more time with his family.
